Kitou works hard for his own goals - anything else he'll find too hard to devote himself to. He used to question life alot.. and perhaps that is why he chose his profession. For someone who has little will towards living, finding life "boring" and "pointless", Kitou found a new meaning in life by giving life. He finds it amazing that people strive so hard to live on - something he just cannot comprehend. By becoming a doctor, Kitou surrounded himself with people like that every day, in hope to understand their reasons better.

To keep on living, Kitou forces himself forward all the time. He is far from being a perfectionist, but he never chooses to settle for second-best. He has a tendency of setting high expectations for himself, even when no one requires any of him -- which is why he is always excelling, and surpassing everyone, surprising them. He finds no joy in outdoing others, and neither does he mind others outdoing him. As long as he reaches his own goals, and that goal turns into a stepping stone allowing him to move forward, nothing else matters.

Because of his determination and will, he sometimes appears to be aloft and unapproachable, however, all his former patients will tell you otherwise. :)

Kitou used to be an extremely talented doctor; well recieved by both his patients and his colleagues at the hospital he worked at.

He had a lover who was always sickly -- in fact, that was how they met. They were patient and doctor. He loved her so much, he ended up making her his reason for living, devoting all most all his time to her.

However, his lover fell lethally ill, and no matter what Kitou did, he couldn't save his lover, who died eventually.

Overwhelmed by his own helplessness and sudden loss, Kitou resigned, never wanting to have anything to do with medicine and lives again, despite the protests of the people around him.

He spent the rest of his days doing nothing, having lost his will to live. Later, he took up smoking and found it to be quite pleasurable.

Having lost the one person he ever bothered to love, Kitou hasn't had another lover since.. but the close resemblance Kaine holds to his dead lover is evoking some emotions in his frozen heart...
